Malitel

Sotelma SA is the historical Malian operator, created in 1990 following the split of the former Posts and Telecommunications Office.

On July 31, 2009, Maroc Telecom acquired 51% of Sotelma through a privatization process conducted via an international tender.

On January 1, 2021, Sotelma launched a new commercial brand for all its activities under the name Moov Africa Malitel.

Fixed Telephony, Data and Internet

Sotelma provides Fixed Telephony services (voice and data) as well as Internet access (ADSL and FTTH) to individual customers, businesses, and government administrations.

As of the end of December 2023, the operator’s Fixed network included 233,000 lines, an increase of 21.3%. The penetration rate of Fixed services relative to the population remains low, reaching only 1.0% at the end of December 2023.

The operator deploys an ADSL and FTTH network over its Fixed lines, enabling it to offer high-speed Internet services to its customers. It also provides Internet access via its CDMA network. As of the end of December 2023, Sotelma had 105,000 Internet subscribers, up 24.7%.

Mobile

As of September 30, 2023, the Malian market had 23 million Mobile customers, representing a penetration rate of 106%.

Three Mobile operators are currently active in Mali: Sotelma, Orange, and Telecel, the latter having launched its Mobile services in the first quarter of 2018.

Sotelma’s Mobile base stood at 8.4 million customers as of December 31, 2023.
